Living life naturally and in harmony with the planet is very important to me, and I’m always discovering and exploring new ways to do this.
The haircare and beauty industry is dominated by big brand products that often don’t consider their environmental impact, and the products usually contain irritating ingredients such as sulfates, parabens, mineral oils and alcohol. When I ditched these products and started to use more natural alternatives I was very happy to find that they can be just as effective and often even better for my hair!.
So..here are my 5 top tips to naturally beautiful hair:
1. Treat your scalp to a massage. This will help to increase circulation and reduce scalp stress. I recommend massaging using fractionated coconut oil and adding to it a drop of either Peppermint, Lavender or Melaleuca (Tea Tree) essential oil. You will benefit from the wonderful aromas and also these are all oils that are both cleansing and soothing for the skin.
2. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar
a couple of times a month. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties that will help to keep your scalp healthy and your hair balanced and shiny. It won’t strip your hair of its natural oils in the way many chemical-based products can. You can read more in this article
3. Wash your hair with doTerra shampoo and conditioner.
They are completely natural and made with essential oils that not only cleanse your hair but also protect your scalp (oh and I love the smell!)
4. Make your own natural hair care and styling products with these diy recipes.
Deep conditioner helps reduce dryness, add shine and keep your hair healthy. This recipe is easy to make and leaves your hair really soft and smooth.
Hair detangler makes brushing much more gentle and less damaging to your hair, plus the ingredients in this recipe help to nourish and moisturise your hair.
Hair wax is perfect to add texture and style and using essential oils gives the wax a beautiful smell and extra conditioning for your hair.
Nit away is a natural and effective way to deter and treat head lice and means that you don’t need to resort to using chemical lice medication. Some essential oils such as Melaleuca (Tea Tree) especially have antifungal and antimicrobial properties that are very effective against lice
