Just wanted to let you all know about a fantastic (and FREE) sustainability course that I’ve just started going to in Perth run by
Living Smart. The
Living Smart programis a joint initiative between the Meeting Place Community Centre, City of Fremantle, Murdoch University and Southern Metropolitan Regional Council. Unfortunately this will be the last course for some time, but the good news is, there are still places available if you live in Perth and want to come along. The course runs from 7-9pm on Thursday evenings at the City of Bayswater Council Offices and started on Thursday 17
thof March. It runs for six weeks until the 28th April and there will also be a field trip on Saturday 2
ndApril to Environment House, which will be a workshop all about worm farming, composting and vegetable gardening. The
Living Smart courseis a great opportunity to learn to be healthier, save money and help our environment. The course involves presentations and discussion groups on various sustainability topics and was developed with these objectives:
- Increasing awareness of sustainability issues.
- Creating positive change in environmental behaviour among participants.
- Supporting and strengthening community relationships.
The course covers handy hints on saving water, gas amp; energy, transport amp; waste management, safe use of household chemicals, indoor air quality, biodiversity and healthier amp; happier lifestyles. It will also give you an opportunity to meet like-minded people and have fun! Our first session last week was interesting, informative and thought provoking and I will be sharing some great sustainability tips with you in future blogs. If you would like to book a place on the
Living Smart course, then please contact Lisa Brideson on 0450031253 or
lisabrideson@gmail.com. And finally, don’t forget to turn of your lights for
EARTH HOURat 8.30 PM, 26 March 2011. Best Regards Tanya
